Bromoconduritol (Mixture of Isomers) (6-Bromo-3,4,5-trihydroxy Cyclohex-1-ene)
Bromoconduritol selectively inhibits mammalian alpha-glucosidase 2 (Glc2/Glc1 glucosidase in the glycoprotein processing pathway), yeast alpha-glucosidase, and some beta-glucosidases. It does not inhibit mammalian alpha-glucosidase 1 (Glc3-glucosidase) or mammalian Golgi mannosidase 1 (alpha-1,2-specific) in the glycoprotein processing pathway; the formation of lipid-linked oligosaccharide precursor (dolichol pyrphosphate oligosaccharide) and the transfer of lipid-linked oligosaccharide to proteins.Preparations in ice-cold H2O should be used immediately. The half-time for decomposition of bromoconduritol A (debromination) is 16 min (H2O, pH 7.3, 37°C). Under similar conditions, the half-life of bromoconduritol B is 2 mins. Group: Biochemicals. Alternative Names: 6-Bromo-3,4,5-trihydroxy Cyclohex-1-ene; 6-Bromo-4-cyclohexene-1,2,3-triol. Grades: Highly Purified. CAS No. 42014-74-4. Pack Sizes: 2mg, 5mg, 10mg, 25mg, 50mg. Bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU)
5-Bromo-2-deoxyuridine (BrdU) is an analog of thymidine, and can be incorporated into the newly synthesized DNA of replicating cells (S-phase cells). BrdU is a commonly used in the detection of proliferating cells in living tissues. It works by substituting for thymidine during DNA replication and incorporating itself into the newly synthesized DNA (during S-phase). Antibodies specific for BrdU can then be used to detect the incorporated chemical, thus indicating cells that were actively replicating their DNA. Because BrdU can replace thymidine during the S phase of cell division, it can cause mutations. Bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU) is also used to prepare dNTP-BrdU solution for UV cross-linking of proteins to nucleic acids and to prepare complete MEM-10-Brdu or MEM-20-Brdu for vaccinia virus stock cultures. Group: Biochemicals. Alternative Names: 5-Bromo-2-deoxyuridine; 5-BrdU; 2-Deoxy-5-bromorouridine; (+)-5-Bromo-1-[(2R,4S,5R)-4-hydroxy-5-(hydroxymethyl)oxolan-2-yl]pyrimidine-2,4-dione; Bromodeoxyuridine; Broxuridine; NSC 38297. Bromothymol blue (alt: dibromothymolsulfoneph thalein, bromthymol blue, BTB) is a chemical indicator for weak acids and bases. The bromothymol blue acts as a weak acid in solution and therefore can be in acid or base forms which appear yellow and blue respectively. It is green in neutral solution. Bromothymol blue is typically sold in solid form as the sodium salt of the acid indicator. It also finds occasional use in the laboratory as a biological slide stain. At this point it is already blue, and a drop or two is used on a water slide. The coverslip is placed ontop of the water droplet and the specimen in it, with the blue coloring mixed in. It is sometimes used to define cell walls or nuclei under the microscope.Bromothymol blue is mostly used in measuring substances that would have relatively low acidic or basic levels (near a neutral pH). It's often used in pools, fish tanks, or measuring the presence of carbonic acid in a liquid. Group: Biochemicals. Alternative Names: 3', 3''-Dibromothymolsulfoneph thalein sodium salt; BTB.
