mycolipanoate synthase
This mycobacterial enzyme accepts long-chain fatty acyl groups from their CoA esters and extends them by incorporation of three methylmalonyl (but not malonyl) residues, forming trimethyl-branched fatty-acids such as (2S,4S,6S)-2,4,6-trimethyltetracosanoate (C27-mycolipanoate). Since the enzyme lacks a thioesterase domain, the product remains bound to the enzyme and requires additional enzyme(s) for removal. Group: Enzymes. Synonyms: msl3 (gene name); Pks3/4; mycolipanoic acid synthase. Enzyme Commission Number: EC 2.3.1.252. Storage: Store it at +4 ?C for short term. For long term storage, store it at -20 ?C?-80 ?C. Mycophenolic acid is a common Penicillium metabolite first reported in the 1930s as a possible mycotoxin. Re-investigation has shown mycophenolic acid to display a broad range of pharmacological activities including antitumor, antiviral, antifungal and antiprotozoan activities. However, it was the discovery that mycophenolic acid was a potent immunosuppressant, useful to prevent kidney transplant rejection, that led to its commercial development and that of related semi-synthetics as pharmaceuticals. Mycophenolic acid acts by inihibition of inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase, controlling the rate of de novo purine synthesis in the proliferation of B and T lymphocytes. Group: Biochemicals. mycoredoxin
Reduction of arsenate is part of a defense mechanism of the cell against toxic arsenate. The substrate arseno-mycothiol is formed by EC 2.8.4.2 (arsenate:mycothiol transferase). A second mycothiol recycles mycoredoxin and forms mycothione. Group: Enzymes. Synonyms: Mrx1; MrxI. Enzyme Commission Number: EC 1.20.4.3. Storage: Store it at +4 ?C for short term. For long term storage, store it at -20 ?C?-80 ?C. Form: Liquid or lyophilized powder. EXWM-1242; mycoredoxin; EC 1.20.4.3; Mrx1; MrxI. Cat No: EXWM-1242.
